"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishoner others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails..." (1 Corinthians 13:4-a).
This verse is such a perfect way to describe what love is because it is true. I feel like sometimes we have a negative viewpoint of what love is because it can hurt depending on the circumstance. God's love for us is so wholesome and amazing that He will never ever stop loving us no matter what. When we think negatively about love it can impact the way we see it on a daily basis.
Love is something precious and it shouldn't be something that we think of as hurtful. I know that there is times when we get hurt by people who claim that they love us, but if we can look past all that and just sit on the truth of God's love then that is all that matters. The truth of the matter is that we can't let our mind trick us into believing that love as a whole is hurtful and that we can be hurt if we fall in love with someone because it doesn't do us any good in the long run.
People fall in and out of love all the time and yes it can be devasting, but we can't allow ourselves to think that it is like that always. It is important to see the positive aspects of love and turn that truth into something that won't affect who we are. If you are scared to love someone, whether it is for a romantic relationship or a family love or even loving yourself, then look to God for that perfect love.
