Boasting is something that a lot of people do because of pride. A person who will boast about something just want to rub it in people's faces. You shouldn't boast about things because it will cause resentment in other people, which can turn into them hating you. If you feel the need to boast about something you don't have to say out loud to people.
If you do something and are proud of it there is nothing wrong with telling people. The problem is when you do it excessively and do it just to get a reaction out of people. Sometimes by doing that it won't end well especially if it's over something that you shouldn't have done at all.
Don't boast because it can end up with bad consequences. The people who you hang around with won't want to hang around you if you are boasting a lot because they won't like it, so just don't do it.
