Telling the Truth

Telling the truth is something that everyone should do on a daily basis. If you did something that you shouldn't have done resulting in getting in trouble then you need to tell the truth right then and there. You might still get in trouble, but it won't be as bad as lying would be. Lying will only make things worse, but eventually you will have to decide that the truth will be more beneficial. 

For example: If your a child and you smack your brother or sister, but you decide that you aren't going to own up to it. You figure that you are just going to lie about it, but the right thing would be to tell the truth instead since your punishment is going to be worse if you lie.

It's always better to tell the truth even if it will cost you something because you can ruin friendships if you lie all the time. The truth can be hurtful at times, but honesty is important and should be treated as such.
